Picked up the 1st edition hardcover of this novel by David Maine off a remainder table at a local Chapters for the scandalous price of $3.99. The author was a complete unknown to me, but the cover design caught my eye and I liked the idea of personalizing the story of Noah and his ark.
I was pleasantly surprised and finished it one sitting. Each chapter is written from the point of view of one of the eight adult members of Noah's family and like any family, the differences in their attitude and personalities create some interesting conflicts.
Were the members of Noah's family actually like this? No, probably not, as Mr. Maine couldn't help but color their personalities with 21st century influences. But that only makes them more interesting to the modern reader and allows them to ask the questions about Faith that we all wonder about.
